The Christian life is not a leisurely walk. It is a march through contested territory. And the enemy who contests it is not careless. He is methodical. He is ancient. And he has been studying human weakness since the Garden of Eden.
In all my years of ministry and intercession, one truth has stayed with me: Satan’s most effective weapon is not a frontal assault. It is a trap. Something hidden. Something camouflaged. Something that looks, at first glance, like something else entirely.
Pride does not arrive announcing itself as pride. It arrives looking like confidence, like righteous standards, like self-awareness. Fear does not announce itself as a spirit of bondage. It arrives looking like wisdom, like carefulness, like responsible thinking. Complacency does not feel like spiritual death. It feels like peace, like rest, like balance.
This is what Prayers Against the Traps of the Enemy is about learning to see what the enemy is actually doing, and then praying with the kind of precision that drives it out!
When I sat down to write this book, I wanted to be as practical and comprehensive as possible. I identified thirty traps that I have seen work their destruction in the lives of believers. Not thirty abstract theological concepts. Thirty real, recognisable patterns that show up in real lives.
Some of them are the ones you would expect: pride, lust, greed, anger, fear. But others are the quiet ones. The ones that rarely get preached about. Self-pity. Flattery. Procrastination. Legalism. Worldliness. Complacency. These are the traps that believers often do not even know they are in, because nothing about them feels like sin. They feel like personality, like circumstances, like just how things are.
“Ignorance in warfare is not innocence. It is peril! You cannot pray with precision when you do not know what you are praying against!”
The enemy is counting on that confusion. He is counting on you not knowing the name of what has been holding you back. Because a trap you cannot identify is a trap you cannot pray against.
This book gives you the name. And then it gives you the prayer.
I structured every chapter the same way, deliberately. Each one opens by exposing the trap; how it is laid, how it feels from the inside, and what the fruit of it looks like in a person’s life. I use Scripture throughout because I believe God’s Word is not just informative but transformative. When you see your situation reflected in Scripture, something shifts in your spirit.
Then comes the Prayer of Release. These are not generic prayers. Each one is targeted specifically at the trap being addressed. They are prayers of confession, renunciation, and surrender, designed to break the specific hold of that particular snare and release you into God’s freedom.
Then comes the Declaration of Freedom. Because prayer and declaration work together. You pray to God and you declare to the enemy. What you confess with your mouth matters. These declarations are built entirely from Scripture, because the Word of God in your mouth is a sword, and the enemy has no answer for it!
“These prayers are not mere breath or ink. They are spiritual weapons — a defiant declaration against the enemy’s schemes and a solemn alignment with the grace of God!”
I believe that when you pray through this book, traps that have held you for years will be dismantled. I believe that areas of your life that have felt stuck will begin to move. I believe you will gain a new level of spiritual discernment, the ability to recognise the enemy’s approach before it leads you somewhere you did not intend to go.
But I also believe something simpler. I believe you will feel less alone in your struggle. Because one of the enemy’s favourite lies is that your particular weakness is unique to you, that no one else fights what you fight, that you are the only one who has fallen into this trap. This book takes that lie apart. These traps are common. The freedom is available. And the God who set you free through the cross of Jesus Christ is more than able to keep you free through His Word and Spirit!
You are not trapped forever. You are not too far in to get out. The same Jesus who walked out of a sealed tomb can walk you out of any trap the enemy has ever set. Pick up this book. Pray these prayers. And walk in the freedom He has already purchased for you!
